Description
Papain is by far the most widely studied of the cysteine enzymes. Several uses of Papain are:
Defibrinating wounds in hospitals.
Prevention of Cornea scar deformation.
Use in treatments of marine, insect and plant stings.
Most marine, insect or plant stings are caused by a relatively simple toxic protein. Papain is a refined proteolytic enzyme. Mode of action is characterized by endoproteases that hydrolyse a wide range of peptide bonds on protein substrates
